shelf wear to tips, corners and edges of book and jacket which shows a bit of staining to bottom edge, small chips; covers mottled, page edges spotted, offsetting to endpapers. A romance novel concerning a young girl coming to New York City to pursue a career and who falls in love. Jacket is signed PJ. Laura Lou Brookman (1898-1975) wrote a series of these for Grosset & Dunlap. This appears to be the first. Reverse of jacket lists novels available from G&D. No other L.L. Brookman titles listed although two others were brought out by G&D in 1928. According to the Library of Congress Brookman published 14 of these romances between 1928 and 1936, mostly for G&D. In 1936 she also published the non-fiction biography of Wallis Warfield Simpson, "that woman" with out whom Edward VIII could not rule Britain.
