Dr. Sunderman died at 104 years old in 2003 having been alive in the 19th, 20th and 21st centuries. A leading physician and researcher in the field of diabetes the author was a medical director of the Manhattan Project. An accomplished musician he performed at Carnegie Hall on his Stradivarius violin. Until a few weeks before his death Dr. Sunderman was still working eight hour days and had been honored as the nation's oldest worker in 2000.
