shelf wear to book; jacket is worn at tips, corners and edges, lower 4.5 cm of spine perished, large chips at front panel top and bottom, closed tears. This rather tattered affair is under laid with a fine facsimile jacket for presentation purposes. Of all the Dance first editions this is perhaps the scarcest. After publishing A Question of Upbringing in a 8vo format with a new jacket design, Scribner's purchased 1,000 of the British sheets for the very small first U.S. edition, with the publisher changed on the spine of the book and jacket and the US price stamped to front flap. Scribner's gave up the series after this and it fell to Farrar, Straus & Cudahy to publish the third volume. 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall. Hard Cover.
