Describes the activities of a Christmas tree farm in Vermont from the planting of the tiny seedlings in early spring to the fall harvest. The first children's book by the late poet. Based on his days working on a Christmas tree farm when he first came to Vermont. Prior to this book he had published a book of poems, Barking Dog. The flap says "he is currently working on a book length poem." Which would be an early incarnation of the Judevine poems in which Budbill also drew on his early Vermont job history. Most copies carry the Atheneum imprint. The highlights of a complicated history make clear that Atheneum was acquired by Scribner in 1978. Macmillan was acquired by Scribner in 1984. Scribner used the Atheneum imprint for their chilren's book division. Any copies under the Atheneum imprint likely post date 1984. All this according to the Simon and Schuster website. S & S purchased all of them in 1994. Books and other items ship promptly with a tracking number and (generally over $15.00) jacket protectors if applicable. Clean recycled packing material will be used when possible. The Book Shed has a been a member of the Vermont Antiquarian Bookseller's Association since 1997.
