Cunningham's major revision and 12th edition of this 94-year-old title was published in 1979; for this edition, she has dropped some "stodgy" recipes and added 300 new ones--Lobster Newburg, Capellini with Salsa Cruda, Baked Apples. There are new, fairly brief chapters on microwaving, outdoor cooking, and vegetarian dishes (new dishes and other vegetarian dishes are highlighted throughout the book)....Fannie Farmer remains a classic, making Cunningham's latest revision essential for most collections." This edition was in print from 1979 through 1989 when it was superseded by Marion Cunningham's revision for the 1990's. A California-born award-winning American food writer, Marion Cunningham was responsible for the 1979 and 1990 revisions of the Fannie Farmer Cookbook, and was the author of The Breakfast Book, The Supper Book, and Cooking with Children, and others in addition to this one. She frequently traveled throughout America giving cooking demonstrations (some with James Beard); contributed articles to Bon Appetit, Food & Wine, and Gourmet magazines; wrote a regular column for the San Francisco Chronicle and the Los Angeles Times; and hosted a television series, Cunningham & Company, on the Food Network. In 1993, Cunningham received the Grand Dame award from Les Dames d'Escoffier "in recognition and appreciation of her extraordinary achievement and contribution to the culinary arts." In 1994, she was named Scholar-in-Residence by the International Association of Culinary Professionals. Every effort is made to ship all books and other items within 24 hours.
