Much wear to tips, corners, and edges of the book, covers sunned, linen backstrip fraying / perishing, dampstaing to lower gutter and page edge not affecting the text or illustrations. Errata slip laid-in. First printing, no others noted. Catalogue to MOMA's third exhibition. In their press release for the exhibit MOMA stated in reference to the preceedng exhibition, Nineteen Living Americans, that "It is hoped that the very general interest and controversy aroused by the American exhibition will be repeated in present exhibition of French paintings." Along with their first offering Cézanne, Gauguin, Seurat, van Gogh at the end of 1929 the three shows "helped to define the Museum’s significant ambitions at its founding as one of first museums of modern and contemporary art in the country."
