The noted chef and culinary celebrity drew upon his vast collection of culinariana to produce this history with recipes of food in America. After his death in 1996 Szathmary's 400,000-item culinary arts collection including menus became the foundation for the Culinary Archives and Museum at Johnson & Wales University in Providence, Rhode Island.
