First printing/edition stated, same date. One of several novels set on Erie Canal by Walter D. Edmonds. Chad Hanna is a Huck Finn'ish canal boy who runs away, saves a slave and joins the circus. A best seller in 1940 it was the third of Edmonds' novels to be made into a film starring Henry Fonda.
