Vinyl record. Not as shown, this one has black and white outer sleeve which shows some edge and ring wear (back side), no cutouts. Plain white inner sleeve. All lp's cleaned and played. Pompeii Records was a Dallas based producer of soul and R&B albums from 1967 to 1970. Ike & Tina Turner ( 3 cuts on side 1, plus Ike Turner and the Kings of Rhythm: Thinking Black; Fontella Bass with vocals by Tina Turner, Les Walton; Leroy Horner; Roger Collins; The Project. There was a time when the Ike and Tina Turner Revue was one of the hottest, most durable, and potentially most explosive of all R&B ensembles. Fronted by Tina, with one of the rawest, most sensual and impossibly dynamic voices in Black music, the Ike And Tina Revue was an ensemble that dripped musical discipline while manifesting nearly unbearable tension, eventually giving way to wave upon wave of catharsis. The Ike and Tina Turner Revue were rivaled only by James Brown and The Fabulous Flames in terms of musical spectacle.
